Lamborghini’s highly anticipated electric supercar, initially slated for a 2028 release, has had its unveiling pushed back to 2029. CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed the delay, citing the need to ensure the market is fully prepared for such a high-performance electric vehicle. “We do not think 2029 is late,” Winkelmann stated. “The market won’t be ready for an electric Lamborghini supercar in 2025 or 2026.”
The Lamborghini Lanzador concept, unveiled in 2023, offers a preview of the brand’s first-ever electric vehicle. This grand tourer features a 2+2 seating layout and is powered by dual high-performance electric motors—one on each axle, ensuring permanent all-wheel drive. With e-torque vectoring on the rear axle, the Lanzador will boast over 1,340 bhp, thanks to a peak power output exceeding one megawatt.
The Lanzador also incorporates Lamborghini’s innovative Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) system. This cutting-edge driving dynamics control system uses sensors and actuators to deliver precise handling and optimal performance. Lamborghini is ensuring that its first electric supercar not only delivers extraordinary power but also meets the brand’s legendary driving experience.
Despite resistance from some purists, Lamborghini’s push towards electrification signifies a major shift in the supercar world. The Lanzador marks the future of high-performance electric mobility, blending Lamborghini’s signature luxury and speed with sustainable technology.
