Jonny Bairstow is an English wicketkeeper-batsman who represents Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. He was picked by SRH at a price of Rs 1.5 crore in the 2019 auction. His IPL debut was a cracker as he went on to score 445 runs including a century. David Warner who is the skipper of the side this year and Bairstow form an amazing opening partnership for the side.
With SRH losing against RCB in the first match, there wasn’t a question on the form of the opener. He scored 61 runs and made it an easy chase for the side but the scores were not converted later. In the first match of the season, he went on to score a half-century which shows his intent very strongly. SRH has a good opening pair but definitely needs to sort out their middle-order as they completely depend on their openers for the big runs.
After having a successful debut season in 2019, the franchise will be turning towards Jonny Bairstow for making those big runs and helping with the chase. He is quick on the field and very reliable when behind the stumps. With SRH’s middle-order issues in the open, the question will be if the English cricketer will be able to deliver consistently. Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking forward to their game against Kolkata Knight Riders where both teams will be looking for a win.
