The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out search operations at around 15 locations in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, including the residence of businessman Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty.

Case Details:

The raids are linked to an ongoing money-laundering investigation into allegations involving the production and distribution of pornographic content through mobile applications.

  • The ED’s inquiry is based on a case registered by the Mumbai police in 2021, where Kundra was accused of involvement in a porn production racket.
  • Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in July 2021 under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. He later secured bail.

Search Operations:

The searches reportedly targeted individuals associated with the case, with ED officials examining financial transactions and links connected to the allegations.

Background:

Raj Kundra’s arrest in 2021 had caused a major uproar, with accusations of his involvement in creating and distributing adult content via apps. The case has since drawn significant attention, leading to a broader investigation into the alleged financial irregularities and potential money laundering.
