Ashok Leyland shares rise nearly 2% as new LCV dealership opens in West Bengal
Shares of Ashok Leyland were trading 1.30% higher at ₹221.75 on the NSE as of 9:50 AM, after the company announced the launch of a new light commercial vehicle (LCV) dealership in Siliguri, West Bengal. This move is part of the Hinduja Group flagship’s plans to expand its footprint in the eastern region of India.
Expansion Highlights:
- Network Growth: With the addition of the new facility, Ashok Leyland’s LCV distribution network now exceeds 800 touch points across India.
- Siliguri Facility: The newly launched dealership, operated by ‘Happie Trucking,’ includes a sales center on Eastern Bypass Road, Siliguri, and a service and spares center in Thakur Nagar, New Jalpaiguri.
Strategic Importance:
The eastern region, particularly West Bengal, has been a key focus area for Ashok Leyland. “We are excited to further strengthen our presence in this region. West Bengal and Eastern India have always been crucial markets for us, and the opportunities here are immense,” said Viplav Shah, Head of Ashok Leyland’s LCV business, in a statement on Thursday.
