The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA is set to debut soon, bringing a host of exciting updates in both design and technology. Underpinned by the innovative Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), this next-generation CLA will feature advanced 48V hybrid powertrain technology, improving both performance and fuel efficiency.
The new CLA will be built on the Mercedes-Benz MMA platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles, with design influences from the EQXX concept. While optimized for EVs, the platform can also accommodate mild-hybrid powertrains. The CLA will be powered by an all-new 1.5-liter four-cylinder M252 petrol engine paired with an electric motor. This new engine is 17% lighter than its predecessor, offering improved performance and efficiency.
With power outputs ranging from 134 bhp to 161 bhp for the front-wheel-drive version, and up to 188 bhp for the all-wheel-drive CLA 4Matic, the engine is supported by a 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing impressive fuel efficiency akin to diesel engines.
The new CLA will also feature a newly developed 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (8F-eDCT), ensuring smooth and responsive gear shifts and contributing to a refined driving experience.
