Katrina Kaif

So, this one isn’t much of a surprise. You might be knowing that Katrina is not born in India. However, her father is Kashmiri and that makes her part Indian by ethnicity. She was born in Hong Kong and lived in London and Hawaii before coming to Bollywood. She came to Mumbai and ever since, she entered Bollywood, she has grown as an actor and we surely love her.

Alia Bhatt

Okay! So, did you know Alia is not Indian and she cannot vote? Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter was under a lot of speculations when she turned 21 but did not vote. This is because she was born in London and holds a British passport. Her mother is also British. For getting Indian citizenship, she needs to give this up and get an Indian passport.

Deepika Padukone

This one is seriously shocking. Deepika Padukone is the daughter of badminton star Prakash Padukone and travel agent Ujjala. She is purely Indian by heart but she was born in Danish Capital, Copenhagen. Her father was doing intense training when she was about to enter the world and this is how she was born there. She came to India even before turning a month old.

Imran Khan

Do you remember this Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na actor? He is Aamir Khan’s nephew but he isn’t Indian. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin, and moved to Mumbai and studied in Bombay Scottish High School after his parents divorced. He has to pay a tax of 10 years in advance if he ever wishes to give up his USA citizenship and acquire Indian citizenship.

Helen

This veteran actor, who was known to be one of the best dancers of Bollywood in her era is also not Indian by birth. She was born to an Anglo-Indian father and a Burmese mother in 1938 in Burma. She is the first item girl of Bollywood and made appearances in over 100 movies.

Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar is in the list because he also cannot vote. But, he was born in Amritsar. Then why? That’s is because he holds a Canadian passport and had gave up the Indian citizenship for the same. He cannot attain dual citizenship, so though he appears in patriotic movies and he shows how truly Indian he is, on papers he isn’t.
