Anurag Thakur, Union Miniter and MoS Finance, questioned the Prime Minister National Relief Fund’s FCRA clearance. Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru ordered its creation in 1948. Though it was regarded as a royal order, there has been no registration of the fund up till now.
Congress leader Manish Tewari said, “Since the PM CARES Fund has the name of the institution of the Prime Minister attached to it, wouldn’t it have been more appropriate if this fund would have been created through legislation rather than as a public trust?”
Congress leaders continue to question the fund’s clearance by the FCRA, Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010
