The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction for 2025 is likely to take place on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet made an official announcement, franchises have been informally informed about the expected schedule.

Last year’s auction was held in Dubai, and this year, after considering other locations such as London and Singapore, the Middle East remains the preferred region for the event. Saudi Arabia was chosen due to its favourable time zone, which works well for broadcasting purposes.

Sources close to the matter indicate that the BCCI and IPL officials are in the final stages of finalizing the venue. The venue needs to accommodate the large delegation from all 10 IPL franchises, as well as a substantial crew from broadcasting partners like Jio and Disney Star, over the three-day event.

Although hosting the auction in Saudi Arabia could be more expensive than Dubai, the BCCI sees this as an opportunity to tap into new markets and expand the IPL’s reach by building a broader international fan base.

Franchises are now awaiting a formal announcement from the BCCI to begin the visa process and address other logistical arrangements.
