Nazara Technologies Limited has announced that its subsidiary, Openplay Technologies Pvt. Ltd., has been granted interim relief by the Calcutta High Court regarding a substantial GST liability. Openplay had received a show cause notice from the Director General of GST Intelligence, Kolkata, concerning a tax liability of ₹845.72 crore for the period from 2017-18 to 2022-23. Following this, Openplay filed a writ petition with the High Court, challenging the demand.
The Hon’ble Calcutta High Court issued an interim directive stating that any action regarding the demand should not proceed without its consent. This update provides Openplay with temporary relief as the case progresses in the legal system.
