Bharti Airtel, one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, announced that it has prepaid ₹8,465 crore to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to settle high-cost deferred liabilities for spectrum acquired in 2016. The liabilities carried an interest rate of 9.3%.

This prepayment marks a significant step in reducing the company’s financial liabilities, allowing Airtel to optimize its balance sheet and reduce future interest costs. By clearing these high-cost liabilities, the company can focus on enhancing its services and expanding its network capabilities.

Bharti Airtel is a major player in global communications, with over 550 million customers across 17 countries in South Asia and Africa. The company continues to invest in its 4G/5G networks, fiber broadband, and enterprise services, solidifying its position as a market leader.
