Sealmatic India Ltd. saw its shares rise by more than 6% after the company secured a crucial order from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for supplying engineered mechanical seals. These mechanical seals are for the DVC Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase-II project, a significant development in the power sector. The order covers critical equipment, including Boiler Feed Pumps, Booster Pumps, Turbine Pumps, and Condensate Extraction Pumps, all of which are essential for the operation of the 1320 MW supercritical power plant.
This is a prestigious win for Sealmatic, as the company is one of the few vendors approved by BHEL for such supercritical applications, alongside only a handful of foreign suppliers. The contract is expected to provide long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) business for Sealmatic, strengthening its position in the high-demand, high-precision power generation sector. The DVC Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase-II, with a capacity of 660 MW x 2, will benefit from Sealmatic’s technology and expertise.
BHEL, a leading power plant equipment manufacturer in India, has a well-established reputation for engineering excellence. It plays a key role in India’s heavy electrical equipment industry, and this order adds another layer of credibility to Sealmatic’s track record. BHEL is supplying these supercritical pumps to Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), which currently has 6687.2 MW of installed capacity and is planning further expansions.
Zakir Chaudhary, who oversees the engineering and design of heavy-duty mechanical seals for thermal and nuclear power applications at Sealmatic, expressed pride in this achievement. He emphasized that Sealmatic’s indigenous manufacturing capabilities have set it apart as the only Indian vendor approved for these supercritical applications, highlighting the company’s strategic importance in supporting India’s power infrastructure.
