As the Champions League 2024/25 has been started and the teams are putting in efforts. There are some players unhappy with the new format of the league. The new format has eliminated the group stages and now there is a big 36 teams table. This means teams will have to play more games than before and it is unacceptable for some players as they feel they are not getting enough rest. Thus, Rodri, Kounde, and Carvajal has spoken against the management and also claimed that they can go for strike in future.

The group stages have been scrapped, replaced by a single league table. This change means clubs must now play more matches in the competition, adding to the already packed schedules for top teams.

Several high-profile players, including Manchester City’s Rodri, Barcelona’s Jules Koundé, and Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal, have voiced their dissatisfaction with the new system. They argue that the increased number of games is pushing players beyond their limits, leaving them insufficient time for rest and recovery.

Rodri, Koundé, and Carvajal have all publicly criticized UEFA’s management, hinting that if the issue isn’t addressed, they may even consider going on strike in the future.

“We are close to going on strike,” says Rodri.

“Nobody pays attention to us,” says Kounde and Carvajal said, “Players are not taken into account.”
