Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has officially discontinued the X-Blade in the Indian market. The X-Blade, released in 2018, failed to bring in significant sales for the Japanese manufacturer. The model has been removed from the company’s official website, indicating that it will be discontinued.
The X-Blade, based on the first-generation CB Hornet 160R, had a more aggressive and visually appealing appearance, with distinguishing features like the front and rear parts, seat and tank shrouds. Underneath its attractive look, the X-Blade was powered by a 162cc single-cylinder engine with adequate power and torque. A five-speed gearbox ensured smooth shifting.
In the tough Indian market, the X-Blade had challenges in spite of its strengths. The X-Blade was positioned below the CB Hornet 160R and lacked essential features including a combined braking system (CBS) and a rear disc brake. These shortcomings, along with many other compelling options in the 160cc class, affected the X-Blade’s popularity.
