In a recent development in the Kolkata rape and murder case, Sanjay Roy, the main suspect, reportedly made startling revelations during a polygraph test conducted on August 25. According to sources, Roy claimed that the victim was already dead when he found her and that he fled the scene out of fear.

The polygraph test, carried out by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at Kolkata’s Presidency Jail, reportedly showed that Roy was “unnerved and anxious” during the questioning. Several of his responses were flagged as “false and unconvincing.”

The incident in question occurred at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. CCTV footage allegedly showed Roy entering the hospital’s emergency building early in the morning on the day of the crime, wearing a Bluetooth device. When he left the building 40 minutes later, the device was missing, only to be found later near the victim’s body. The police linked the device to Roy by pairing it with his cellphone.

A polygraph test, commonly known as a lie detector test, measures a person’s physiological responses while they answer questions. While it can indicate stress or anxiety, it cannot definitively determine honesty.
