Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan, who was once known for giving hard time to the opposition’s bowlers, has recently announced his retirement from international and domestic circuit.
The cricketer is known for registering some of the most stats throughout his career and at one point of time, he also led the Indian cricket team. Back in 2022, Indian cricket team traveled to Caribbean Islands to face West Indies. The ODI series was missed by a lot of regular players, including Indian captain Rohit Sharma, which led to Shikhar Dhawan stepping the shoes of captain. However, this was not the first time that Dhawan led the Men in Blue, as a year earlier, he had captained the team against Sri Lanka.
In a live Instagram chat with former India pacer Irfan Pathan in 2020, Shikhar revealed that MS Dhoni has been favorite captain that he has played under in international cricket.
Back then, Dhawan had only played under the leadership of Dhoni and Virat Kohli. In the same chat, he had also revealed that Rohit Sharma is his favorite player to bat alongside.
