Ola Electric Mobility has achieved a significant milestone in India’s electric vehicle (EV) industry. The company’s S1 X scooters, in both 3 kWh and 4 kWh variants, have received Production Linked Incentive (PLI) certification, marking a major step forward in domestic EV production.

Ola’s founder, Bhavish Aggarwal, announced the achievement on the social media platform X, stating, “Excited to share that the S1X 3 and 4 kWh scooters @OlaElectric have received the Domestic Value Addition (DVA) certification under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme.”

This certification is particularly noteworthy as it makes Ola the first and only company to have four products certified under the Auto PLI scheme, spanning both premium and mass-market two-wheeler segments. Aggarwal highlighted the importance of these models, revealing that they “make almost 50% of our orders.”

The PLI scheme, designed to boost domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependence, provides incentives to companies achieving high domestic value addition in their products. This certification not only validates Ola’s commitment to local production but also positions the company favorably in India’s growing EV market.

Aggarwal expressed optimism about the development, concluding his statement with, “More wind in our sails as we build India’s EV future!” This certification is expected to strengthen Ola’s position in the electric two-wheeler market and contribute to the broader goal of electrifying India’s automotive sector.
