The Dallas Cowboys and their young star nose tackle, Mazi Smith, are relieved after a concerning peanut allergy scare sent him to the hospital. The incident occurred on Friday while the team was on the bus, with Smith suffering an allergic reaction. Fortunately, after receiving prompt medical attention at the hospital, Smith is now feeling much better and is set to return to practice on Monday.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy addressed the situation, expressing the seriousness of the event: “Frankly, everybody was on the bus. And I was passing him as he was coming off the bus and I was getting on,” McCarthy shared after the game. “But those things are always serious when you have an allergic reaction like that.”

Peanut allergies can indeed lead to severe health complications, so it’s fortunate that Smith received the necessary care quickly. His ability to bounce back and return to the field is great news for the Cowboys, as Smith is expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming season.

Last season, as a rookie, Smith played in all 17 regular-season games, starting in three, and also participated in the team’s playoff game. The former Michigan standout recorded 13 combined tackles and one sack in his debut NFL season. As he takes on a larger role in 2024, the Cowboys are counting on him to be a key component of their defense, disrupting opposing offenses and anchoring the line.
