The Argentine was instrumental towards the end of last season for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as his fantastic performances between the sticks helped Arsenal finish 8th on the Premier League table and lift the FA Cup trophy, a record 14th time for the Gunners. Martinez was also the keeper for Arsenal’s victory over Liverpool to win the FA Community Shield at the start of the current season.
However, with German international Bernd Leno back from injury, Martinez would become the 2nd choice behind the German. Martinez would certainly want to challenge himself to be the main man in any team as he would also want to claim the No.1 spot in the Argentina national team.
The 28-year-old has been a part of Arsenal football club for a decade now, fulfilling his dream of winning silverware with his boyhood club last season. The search of regular first team football has led Martinez to secure a move to Villa Park where he would be one of the main men in Dean Smith’s team as they would look to stay in the Premier League for another season.
