Connections is the latest puzzle game from The New York Times that challenges you to categorize 16 words into four groups of four based on how they relate to each other. Each puzzle resets every night, so you can test your skills daily and track your streaks just like in Wordle. If today’s puzzle has you stumped, we’ve got some tips and hints to help you out.

How to Play Connections

In Connections, you’re given a grid of 16 words and your task is to sort these words into four distinct groups, each containing four words. These groups could be based on various themes such as types of flowers, famous movie characters, or common household items.

Some words might seem to fit multiple categories, but there is only one correct solution. You can shuffle the words in the grid and rearrange them to find the connections more easily.

Each group you identify is color-coded:

  • Yellow for the easiest group
  • Green, blue, and purple for progressively harder groups

Select four words and hit Submit. If you’ve correctly identified a group, those words will be removed from the grid and their theme will be revealed. Incorrect guesses count as mistakes, and you have only four mistakes before the game ends.
