The Moov Ring, which recently launched on Indiegogo, has already surpassed its initial funding goal of $5,000, raking in over $95,000 so far. The campaign will run until Monday, September 2, and the rings are expected to ship starting December 2024.
The Moov Ring has attracted attention partly because of its continuous blood pressure monitoring feature, which is not available on current competitors like the Galaxy Ring or Oura Ring. This feature sets it apart as tech companies have long tried to incorporate reliable blood pressure tracking into wearables.
The ring has been in development for a decade, crafted by experts in hypertension and data analytics. It uses photoplethysmography sensors and sophisticated algorithms to deliver accurate blood pressure readings in a compact device.
In addition to blood pressure monitoring, the Moov Ring offers various other features. It tracks sleep, measures stress levels, records skin temperature, and monitors standard metrics like steps and heart rate. The device promises up to seven days of battery life and comes with a companion app that provides health and fitness insights without requiring a subscription.
It’s worth noting that the Moov Ring is from a different team than the Moov Now fitness tracker, which was discontinued a few years ago. The new Moov Ring is priced at $299 (around £235 / AU$455), but early backers can get it for $239 (£185 / AU$360). As with any crowdfunding project, be cautious before investing, as there’s no guarantee you’ll receive the product or a refund. If you’re unsure, it might be best to wait until it’s available for general purchase.
