Recently, Rashami Desai who is famous in the Colors TV drama Uttaran shared that she had to live on the street for a while after losing her house and acquiring a debt of Rs 3.5 crore. She revealed that during those four days, she slept in her car an Audi A6. In one breath she laughed about seeing herself curled up asleep in her Audi but also chuckled when asked about food which is what she used to have during those times when Rs. 20 would buy you such meals with small pebbles in them.
In a podcast by Paras Chhabra, Rashami hints that soon after she divorced Nandish Sandhu, she had bought a house at such significant amounts. “I bought myself a house at that time with a loan amounting almost to Rs 2.5 crore plus others creating debts estimated between Rs 3.25 crore and Rs 3.5 crores just then; this is because I thought everything was okay until suddenly my series got cancelled.”
She added that all her belongings were at her manager’s home and she had completely lost touch with her family. She described those days as some of the hardest days of her life.
Discussing her mental state at the period, “I got divorced; even my friends began to think I was rather difficult because of not expressing my emotions and retreating into solitude. All decisions taken by me appeared wrong to my family.” Rashami noted that things took a different turn after her next exhibition, Dil Se Dil Tak where she acted alongside Sidharth Shukla. “At least I paid off my loan, but was still stressed,” she recounted with tears in her eyes.
Later while laughing, she admitted that post this incident; it left behind Innova which could serve as a sleeping place unlike the Audi that left someone rather uncomfortable enough even trying to rest in such setting.
