What is the process of giving the security?

The person who is facing a life threat has to file an application to the nearest police station of his/her residence with proof. Intelligence Bureau investigates about the threatening. A committee comprising Home Secretary, Director General and Chief Secretary of the state decides what category security should be given to him/her based on the degree of threat. X category security is the basic level of security that is given when the threat is relatively low. Union Home Ministry approves the security formally at the end of all these processes.
