Real Madrid has announced a farewell event for their former captain, Nacho Fernandez, who left the club this summer. The tribute will take place on Wednesday, July 24, at 1:00 p.m. at Real Madrid City, with club president Florentino Perez in attendance.

Nacho, a product of Real Madrid’s La Fabrica academy, decided not to extend his contract, which expired on June 30. Despite attempts by head coach Carlo Ancelotti and Perez to convince him to stay, Nacho chose to move on. Ancelotti reportedly urged him to remain at the club, saying, “Don’t do something crazy. Stay here, with us, at Real Madrid.”

After 12 seasons and 364 games with Real Madrid, Nacho signed with Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League. During his time at the club, he won 26 titles, including six European Cups and four La Liga titles. Real Madrid expressed its gratitude, calling Nacho “one of the great legends of our club.”
