US President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 while in Las Vegas, the White House stated on Wednesday. He is presently having “mild symptoms” of the virus.
Biden will take a flight to his Delaware home to self-isolate, where he will continue to do all of his duties completely, according to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Unidos US President and CEO Janet Murguía announced Biden’s diagnosis during the organization’s convention in Las Vegas, stating that he would be unable to attend due to a positive test result.
The president’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, reported that Biden had a runny nose, a non-productive cough and general malaise. These were upper respiratory symptoms. After the positive test, the president was prescribed Paxlovid, an antiviral medication and has already taken his first dosage.
On Wednesday afternoon, Biden was set to give a speech at the Unidos event in Las Vegas as part of the campaign to rally Hispanic voters for the November election. He greeted diners at the Original Lindo Michoacan restaurant in Las Vegas earlier in the day, announcing his intention to take part in an interview with Univision.
