The LA Lakers are bolstering their coaching staff with experienced NBA mentors to support JJ Redick’s transition into coaching, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks, both seasoned head coaches with a combined 31 seasons of experience, are set to join Redick’s coaching team.

According to Wojnarowski, the Lakers have prioritized surrounding Redick with what he termed “an elite coaching staff” since hiring him in June. This move aims to ease Redick’s transition from player to coach, leveraging the extensive coaching backgrounds of McMillan and Brooks.

Nate McMillan, aged 59, most recently coached the Atlanta Hawks until February 2021. He took over as interim coach in Atlanta and led them to the Eastern Conference finals that same year, eventually securing a four-year contract. Throughout his coaching career, McMillan has amassed a 760-668 record, including 11 postseason appearances with multiple teams such as Seattle, Portland, Indiana, and Atlanta.

Scott Brooks, on the other hand, brings his experience from coaching the Washington Wizards for five seasons until 2021, preceded by a successful tenure with the Oklahoma City Thunder for seven seasons. His coaching record stands at 521-414 in the regular season and 49-48 in the playoffs.

Both coaches’ wealth of experience and proven track records in guiding NBA teams through competitive seasons and playoffs will undoubtedly provide invaluable support to JJ Redick as he embarks on his coaching career with the Lakers. Their presence is expected to lend stability, strategic insight, and mentorship to Redick and the team as they prepare for the upcoming NBA season.
