Javed Akhtar, a renowned screenwriter, poet, and lyricist, has recently purchased a property in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu neighborhood. According to documents accessed and reviewed by SquareYards.com, Akhtar bought the apartment for Rs. 7.76 crore. This ready-to-move-in property covers approximately 111.43 square meters (1199.42 square feet). The transaction, completed on July 2nd, included a stamp duty of Rs. 46.02 lakh and a registration fee of Rs. 30,000.
The property is located in the Sagar Samrat Building in Juhu, a prominent neighborhood in Mumbai known for its luxurious living and natural beauty. One of the highlights of Juhu is its famous beach, a long stretch of sandy shoreline perfect for relaxing walks and stunning sunsets. The neighborhood is also home to many high-end residential buildings and celebrity homes, adding a touch of glamour to the area.
According to SquareYards.com, Akhtar had bought an adjoining apartment spanning 113.20 square meters (1218.47 square feet) for Rs. 7 crore in 2021. Interestingly, he currently resides in this cooperative housing society and lives in an apartment on a different floor apart from these two properties.
Javed Akhtar first gained fame as a screenwriter in the 1970s, forming a successful partnership with Salim Khan. Together, they wrote several iconic films, including “Sholay,” “Deewar,” and “Zanjeer,” which are now considered classics in Indian cinema. Over the years, Akhtar has received numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri (1999), Padma Bhushan (2007), and the Sahitya Akademi Award (2013).
