In India, the monsoon season is most awaited since most people plan vacations at this time to enjoy the rainfall. To avoid landslides, waterlogging, floods and other disasters, it is not advised to visit some places during this time of year since they can become scary.
Here are 5 Indian destinations you must avoid visiting during monsoons
1. Darjeeling
Like the majority of the eastern states, Darjeeling is too dull during the rainy season as people hide under shelter and wear raincoats all day. It is not advisable to stroll through tea farms during the monsoon season since the heavy rain can turn a normally picturesque walk through some of India’s finest tea estates into a hard struggle.
2. Goa
Goa during the monsoon season could be a complete nightmare. The small state may become alarmingly dull and dark with black clouds covering the whole sky. Goa is most enjoyable in the winter or summer, but avoid the monsoon when there is nothing to offer.
3. Kinnaur
Although Kinnaur Valley is still beautiful throughout the year, it is advisable to plan your visit for either after the rainy season or between April and June. The monsoon months are best avoided because of the unpredictable nature of the weather during this time of year.
4. Uttarakhand
In some parts of Uttarakhand, the monsoon season can bring terrible weather. Owing to its proximity to Delhi-NCR, this location is regularly populated throughout the year. However, during the monsoon season, the upper reaches of Uttarakhand get severe rainfall, resulting in landslides, floods and cloudbursts.
5. Assam
Landslides in several regions of Assam during the monsoon season are reported on a regular basis. Despite being surrounded by greenery when it rains, it’s better to avoid visiting Assam during this time of year.
