Prime Minister Narendra Modi tendered his resignation, alongside the Council of Ministers, in a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu today.

As the nation awaits the formation of the new government, leaders including MK Stalin, Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, Sharad Pawar, and others are making their way to Delhi to attend meetings with their respective alliances.

The NDA government’s formation and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony are anticipated to occur on June 8. Ahead of this, all NDA MPs are expected to convene on June 7 in Parliament, where they will elect PM Modi as their leader.

President Murmu has accepted PM Modi’s resignation and requested him and the Council of Ministers to continue until the new government assumes office.

Sources suggest that PM Modi is likely to take the oath for a third consecutive term on the evening of June 8. Despite the NDA securing 292 seats, falling short of a majority on its own, the alliance is poised to form the government. If successful, PM Modi will join former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru as the only leader to retain power for a third term.
