Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon and her driver were allegedly attacked by a mob in Mumbai’s Bandra on Saturday night, following accusations of rash driving. The incident reportedly took place on Carter Road.
According to sources, Raveena’s driver hit three people with the vehicle, leading to injuries. The enraged crowd quickly escalated the situation, culminating in an altercation. Raveena Tandon exited her vehicle to address the crowd but was allegedly pushed and hit.
Viral Videos Capture the Incident
Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media platforms. In one video, the actor is heard pleading, “please don’t hit me.” According to a report by the Free Press Journal, Raveena was allegedly in a drunken state, and the victims claimed she abused and assaulted them.
One victim, seen with a bleeding nose, is heard saying, “You will have to spend the night in jail.” Another person in the video stated, “You have assaulted. I will go to the police.” Raveena was also heard asking the crowd not to push her before rushing back to her vehicle.
Eyewitness Accounts and Conflicting Reports
In a video posted by freelance reporter Mohsin Shaikh, a relative of the alleged victim recounted their side of the story. He claimed they were returning home when Raveena’s driver hit his mother with the car. When confronted, he alleges, the driver started assaulting them, and Raveena, allegedly in a drunken state, joined in the assault.
The relative also claimed they spent four hours at the Khar police station without the case being filed.
Contradictory Statements and CCTV Footage
A source told News18 that the portrayal of the episode is incorrect. CCTV footage from the area supposedly shows that a group of women gathered outside Raveena’s home in the evening and started shouting and fighting with the driver. The source added, “She joined them just to protect her driver.”
The source further claimed, “If the driver had injured them first, why didn’t they go to the police station and file an FIR? Unlike what’s going around in the news, Raveena wasn’t drunk. The news that the driver attacked these women is also false and fabricated.”
Raveena Tandon has not yet made any public statements as the matter is currently with her lawyer.
