The match against Kuwait will the last game for Sunil Chhetri, as the Indian player has announced his retirement from international football. India will play FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Kuwait in Kolkata in June 6.
Earlier today, the Indian captain took to his X account, formerly known as Twitter, to share a video announcing his retirement.
Looking back at his journey as a player, he said, “There is one day that I never forget and remember it quite often is the first time I played for my country man, it was unbelievable. But the day before, morning of the day, Sukhi sir, is my first national team coach, in the morning he came to me and he’s like, you’re going to start? I can’t tell you how I was feeling man.”
Chhetri has been playing for India for the past 19 years declares that his next game, which will be against Kuwait, will be his last game.
