Monster is a psychological drama starring Soya Kurokawa and Sakura Ando in the key roles. Soya Kurokawa is well recognised for his captivating depiction of Minato Mugino in Monster. He received the ‘Best Newcomer’ prize at the prestigious 66th Blue Ribbon Awards.
The film premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2023, and was released in theatres on June 2, 2023. It is now accessible to watch on OTT.

The film’s plot revolves around Minato Mugino, a young child who is dealing with an odd situation. His mother, Saori Mugio, notices his peculiar behaviour and attempts to uncover solutions by visiting his school, but is unsuccessful.
According to the video, Mugino was hit by his teacher, which caused him to exhibit peculiar behaviour and become concerned for his mother and teacher. However, the root of his peculiar behaviour is unrelated to his teacher; there is something more that Mugino is keeping hidden and cannot reveal to anyone.
Monster stars Sakura Ando as Saori Mugino, Soya Kurokawa as Minato Mugino, Eita Nagayama as Michitoshi Hori, Hinata Hiiragi as Yori Hoshikawa, Yuko Tanaka as Makiko Fushimi, Shido Nakamura as Kiyotaka Hoshikawa, Akihiro Tsunoda as Humiaki Shoda, and Mitsuki Takahata as Hirona Suzumur.
It is produced by Fuji Television Network, Gaga, Toho, AOI Pro, and Bun-Buku, with cinematography by Ryuto Kondo. Yuji Sakamoto wrote the psychological drama, and Hirokazu Koreeda directed it.
