The first poster for Vicky Krieps starrer The Dead Don’t Hurt has been revealed by Letter Box.
The Dead Don’t Hurt is set in the background of the American Civil War and narrates the story of star- crossed lovers on the western U.S. frontier in the 1860s.
It revolves around Vivienne Le Coudy, played by Vicky, who embarks on a relationship with Danish immigrant Holger Olsen. Post meeting him in San Francisco, she travels with him to his home near Elk Flats, Nevada, where they start a life together. However, the outbreak of civil war separates them and Olsen decides to fight for the Union.
Post Holger joining the civil war, Vivienne is left behind to fend for herself in a place, which is being controlled by a corrupt Mayor Rudolph Schiller, played by Danny Huston, and his business partner Alfred Jessie, played by Garrett Dillahunt.
As it turns out, Alfred’s violent wayward son Weston, played by Solly McLeod, aggressively pursues Vivienne, who resists his advances. Upon Holger returning from the war, both of them are changed people and they have to make peace with the newer version each has become.
The movie will hit the theatres on May 31, 2024, as per Deadline.
