Following the release of The Tortured Poets Department, a source has revealed it to Entertainment Tonight that Taylor and her ex boyfriend are trying to remain respectful towards one another.

The latest album released by the singer lead to speculation about who each song was inspired by, which is no different.

Taylor’s latest album, a surprise double release, came out last week, turning Swifties into sleuths as they searched for clues in each lyric of the densely poetic material.

While certain lines hinted towards her short lived romance with Matty Healy, with whom she was romantically liked in June 2023, there was of course plenty of speculation that the album’s sadder songs were in reference to her ex boyfriend Joe Alwyn, whom she had dated for six years.

Joe was involved with Taylor’s music career when the two were together – even winning a Grammy Award as one of the writers on her 2020 album, Folklore. However, since their breakup in April 2023, the English actor is keeping a low profile and maintaining a distance from both the singer and the speculations that came with the release of her new songs.

Now, a source has revealed to ET, that Taylor and Joe are not in touch  and “they try to be respectful of one another.” The source added, “Joe wants to keep his personal life private. He is more introverted and the interest about his personal life is a bit overwhelming to him. He is focused on acting an his career.”
