With IPL in less than two weeks, a member of the Delhi Capitals tested positive for coronavirus. In an official statement by the franchise, the member was identified as the assistant physiotherapist. It also mentioned that he had returned two negative tests after landing in UAE but tested positive in the third one.
“He was yet to meet with, and had not been in contact with any players or staff of the franchise,” the statement said. “He was isolated immediately, and is currently at the IPL Isolation Facility in Dubai for the next 14 days, at the end of which he will have to produce two negative reports for him to be able to join the Delhi Capitals squad. The franchise’s medical team is in constant touch with him, and wishes him a speedy recovery.”
Delhi Capitals is the third team two have a squad member test positive for the virus after Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. The coronavirus cases in the IPL bubble have definitely raised concerns and everybody has been alert. International players have shown little hesitation after knowing the news but have shown trust in the protocols set by the authorities. Kings XI Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia also mentioned how the people who are “really required” to be among the players should be allowed in the bio-secure environment.
