Jennifer Love Hewitt is the person to thank for the crossover between The Bachelor and 9-1-1 on ABC.
The I Know What You Did Last Summer star is a fan of the dating reality series, and when the series was picked up by ABC after getting canceled on Fox, she pitched the idea of crossover to Tim Minear, who is the show’s co-creator and showrunner.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tim shared that the whole crossover episode was made possible because Jennifer went to one of the finales of The Bachelor. He added that she’s a huge fan of the reality series and pitched the idea to him saying, “Wouldn’t it be great if teh 118 responded to a call at the Bachelor museum?”
The showrunner added that the people at The Bachelor were unbelievably supportive of making this happen.
“They volunteered to show us the ropes about how they make the show, and then when we shot it. We actually brought in the Bachelor crew to shoot the first part of the case, so that it really was The Bachelor,” continued Tim. “And then we go into 9-1-1 world when they have to call 9-1-1. So that’s how it came about. It just seemed like a great idea.”
The fourth episode of seventh season of 9-1-1 – Buck Bothered and Bewildered – will feature Joey Graziadei of The Bachelor in the ABC drama series.
