SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) left cricket fans awestruck with their exceptional performance against Mumbai Indians (MI), setting numerous records in a thrilling match.
With a massive total of 277/3, SRH achieved the fourth-highest score in T20 cricket history, and it stands as the highest score ever recorded outside of International matches. This remarkable feat shattered the 11-year-old IPL record previously held by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who scored 263/5 against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
The match witnessed a historic aggregate of 523 runs, setting a new record for the highest combined total in a T20 game. Notably, this was the first time in IPL history that the 500-run mark was surpassed, overtaking the previous record set 14 years ago in a match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals.
Additionally, SunRisers’ dominant display saw them achieve the highest total ever recorded by a team batting second in IPL history, with MI scoring 246/5, surpassing Rajasthan Royals’ 226 against Punjab Kings in 2020.
The match witnessed a total of 38 maximums hit, breaking the previous record of 37. Moreover, the 69 boundaries scored in the match equaled the highest tally in an IPL game.
Individual performances further added to the excitement, with Abhishek Sharma’s lightning-fast half-century in just 16 balls setting a new record for SunRisers. Additionally, Tilak Varma’s rapid 50 off 24 balls contributed to a historic moment, marking the first instance of three batters reaching the 50-run milestone within 25 balls each in an IPL match.
While the match was filled with remarkable achievements, it also saw MI’s Kwena Maphaka concede 66 runs, becoming the most expensive debutant bowler in IPL history.
