HBO is making a TV series out of Harry Potter, and this might be their chance to fix the worst death in the series. In all of eight movies, there are several sad deaths, however, this one particular death could have been handled better, even in the books by J.K. Rowling. While the movies have maintained a good streak of box office numbers and reviews, the fans often argue that they not done justice to the books. It seems that now the makers have yet another chance to improve on their adaptation.
There are the number of deaths in Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, but none are handled so poorly as Hedwig’s. Harry’s pet owl gets killed early in the movie, as it gets struck by Avada Kedavra curse during the Order of the Phoenix’s flight from 4 Privet Drive. Hedwig is flying near Hagrid and Harry, and even attempts to take on the one of the Death Eaters who’s gaining on them. Unfortunately, the bird gets hit by a death curse, making it one of the first tragedies of the movie.
Harry is clearly upset after losing but he is still in between the battle. Upon reaching the destination, the other wounder Order members and casualties take center stage. This leads to Hedwig’s death getting glossed in the film.
