It has been officially announced that Sri Lanka and CSK pacer Matheesha Pathirana has been included for IPL 2024.
As the tournament begins on today (Friday) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the pacer has been declared fit to play despite recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained while playing in the second T20I match against Bangladesh.
After several days of injury, his manager confirmed his fitness saying, “The answer to ‘Where’s Pathirana’. He is fit and ready to throw Thunder balls. Be ready. Finally a together with the Legend.”
Pathirana has not yet received a No Objection Certificate from the board, claiming he will miss the first 2-3 games for CSK.
Pathirana, who took 19 wickets in 12 matches to become CSK’s leading wicket-taker last season, will be unavailable for the inaugural match on March 22nd against RCB. Nevertheless, the player’s injury will have a silver lining to provide work for Mustafizur Rahman, who will offer an additional quick work for the team.
