Starz is eyeing a further expansion of its Power franchise – this one a prequel featuring two of the key characters in the original series.
The premium cable outlet is developing a drama titled Origins, which would follow younger versions of Ghost and Tommy, characters played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in Power. The original series Power, which premiered in 2014, already has three spinoffs – Book II: Ghost, Book III: Raising Kanan, and Force – making this the fourth spinoff.
Creator and showrunner of Raising Kanan, Sascha Penn will executive produce along with Power creator Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis ’50 Cent Jackson’, and Mark Canton. The Power shows are being backed by Lionsgate Television.
The flagship Power series streamed for six seasons on Starz, and the three spinoffs are currently all ongoing. Ghost’s fourth season is set to premiere later this year, and Raising Kanan and Force is filming its fourth and third season, respectively.
