Champions League New format to start from next season. The UEFA Champions League is set to undergo a significant transformation, introducing a new format that promises to add more intensity, excitement, and opportunities for teams across Europe.

Starting from the upcoming season, the prestigious tournament will welcome 36 teams instead of the traditional 32, setting the stage for an expanded and thrilling competition.

The most noteworthy change comes in the form of an increase in the number of group stage opponents for each participating team. Teams will now face 8 different opponents, engaging in a balanced mix of 4 home games and 4 away games.

Teams securing positions 1 to 8 will enjoy a direct ticket to the coveted Round of 16. This streamlined qualification process ensures that the top-performing teams are rewarded for their group stage prowess, bypassing additional hurdles on their journey to continental glory.

For teams finishing between 9th and 24th place, the road to the knockout stages will feature a playoff round. Battling for a spot in the Round of 16. However, for those unfortunate teams placed 25th and below, their Champions League journey will come to an end.
