England all-rounder, Ben Stokes opted out of the test series against Pakistan so as to attend his ailing father in New Zealand. After an exemplary performance against the West Indies with both bat and the ball, he is going through a rough patch after his father was diagnosed with cancer.
He was not picked in the squad that will play limited over cricket against Australia starting Friday.
While there is no certainty around when will the all-rounder join the national squad again, there are doubts that he might miss IPL 2020 where he plays for the Rajasthan Royals.
There is no official confirmation from the side and they are hoping things get better making it possible for him to join the squad. If not then the team will have to look for an apt replacement for the most talked-about cricketer of last year.
“I didn’t sleep for a week and my head wasn’t really in it. Leaving was the right choice from a mental point of view,” Stokes was quoted as saying to the Weekend Herald.
After the Bristol brawl case, he has developed himself into a responsible character. He is very dedicated to serving his nation and always wants to give his best. He was one of the very reasons why England got their hands on the World Cup in 2019 for the very first time. Even in the final against the Black Caps, he showed nerves of steel. He made his IPL debut in 2017 for the Rising Pune Supergiant and has been with the Royals since the 2018 edition of the T20 league.
