On the eve of New Year 2024, food and quick delivery platforms experienced an unprecedented surge in single-day orders, setting new records for the industry. Senior executives from these platforms took to social media to share the exciting milestone.

Deepinder Goyal, the CEO of Zomato, announced on social media platform X that they had achieved their all-time high in daily orders. Expressing immense gratitude, Goyal acknowledged the collective effort that contributed to this achievement. 

The founder and CEO of Blinkit, Albinder Dhindsa, shared this view when he disclosed that on December 31, orders per minute and single-day orders on the site reached all-time highs.

Swiggy Instamart, saw an increase in orders as well; it peaked on New Year’s Eve. The orders per minute on the site exceeded their previous best during the World Cup 2023 finals by 1.6 times, according to Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Food Marketplace at Swiggy.

Goyal, in another social media post, highlighted that Zomato alone recorded total tips of over Rs 97 lakh given to delivery partners on December 31. On New Year’s Eve, more than 320,000 delivery partners across Zomato and Blinkit were dedicatedly serving customers.

Conveying appreciation, Goyal expressed that India had tipped over Rs 97 lakh to the delivery partners working on New Year’s Eve. In another post, he underscored the magnitude of their achievement, mentioning that they had fulfilled nearly the same number of orders on NYE 23 as they had on NYE 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 collectively.
