The Lok Sabha Secretariat took action on December 14 by suspending eight individuals in response to a security breach in the Parliament.
The suspended personnel have been identified as Rampal, Arvind, Vir Das, Ganesh, Anil, Pradeep, Vimitt, and Narendra.
The security breach occurred on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack on December 13. During Zero Hour, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery, releasing yellow gas from canisters and shouting slogans before being subdued by MPs. Simultaneously, outside the Parliament, two others, Neelam Azad, and Amol Shinde, set off red and yellow smoke bombs, protesting against dictatorship.
The four involved have been arrested and charged under the anti-terror law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and sections of the Indian Penal Code. Lalit Jha and Vicky Sharma are the two additional accused, with Jha allegedly recording videos of Neelam and Shinde using the canisters outside Parliament, while Vicky Sharma’s Gurugram residence served as the accommodation for all accused.
Amidst the chaos inside the Lok Sabha, several MPs surrounded the intruders. In a video, at least four MPs were seen physically confronting one of the intruders, with one leader pulling him by the hair while others continued to strike him.
Police investigations revealed that the four individuals hailed from different states and had coordinated over several meetings in the last 18 months to plan the breach. They had connected through a social media page named “‘Bhagat Singh Fan Club.”
