Karan Johar is one of the top directors of Bollywood. From Kuch kuch hota hai to Aae dil hai Mushkil, he has directed a wide array of movies. Well he is just not a director, KJo also is a film writer, producer, screen writer and costume designer, he has even tried his hand at acting in few films.
Well it is no secret that Karan is called as the gossip mill of the industry. His famous talk show koffee with Karan has also been the reason of many controversies and sensational revelations over the past years.
Let’s take a look at the top controversies of Karan Johar’s life-
The party video controversy
Karan Johar hosts the most glamorous parties of B-town with all A-grade actors attending it without fail. On one such party he posted a video with many famous actors in frame with the caption ‘Saturday night vibes’. This video sparked a lot of controversy as many reports surfaced that drugs were being consumed by the actors present in the video. Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh even asked the actors to undergo a drug test and share the results on twitter.
However Karan dismissed the allegations by saying “there were achieving members of the industry who were having an easy night out after a hard week of work… would I be putting that video if there was anything happening, I am not stupid.”
The Ae dil hai mushkil controversy
The release date of the film ‘Ae dil hai mushkil’ clashed with Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay. During this time a video leaked on twitter showing a conversation between Karan and Kamaal R Khan, karan asking kamal to give a good review of the movie for some payment. This also created a clash between karan and kajol who had been friends for over 25 years.

The Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul controversy
The show Koffee with Karan gets out of hands sometimes and that is what happened when Indian team cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were the guests in the shows latest season. Hardik Pandya was slammed for making sexist and offensive remarks on the show. Both the cricketers were sent home from the middle of the ODI series going on in Australia and were temporarily suspended by the BCCI. Even karan spoke on the issue saying it was a very troublesome incident even for him. He further said “I would still love to have them and welcome them with open arms but I don’t think they will come.”

The Nepotism controversy
Well this is something that we cannot stop talking about. The topic of nepotism has been one of the most discussed, especially after the sad demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Karan Johar has always been accused of nepotism in the industry. He introduces a lot of new talent, but mostly they are the children of superstars or someone already having connections in Bollywood. Many agree that he promotes only star kids and hardly gives any chance to outsiders.
