As a result of a derogatory comment passed by Mansoor Ali Khan, he is being highly condemned by the South film industry. The actor who shared the screen with Trisha Krishnan in Leo made a statement saying, “lost out on the opportunity of having bedroom scene with her.” The aftermath which followed due to this remark has been complicated as Khan received backlash in huge numbers.

Talking about the recent controversy, actor Adivi Sesh revealed the attitudes of men within the film industry. He stated how old cinematic creations used to indulge rape scenes in movies as a matter of gauging male attention. This emphasized the need to enjoy cinema over the name of women’s misery.

The actor said, “It is horribly unfortunate that casual misogyny and the patriarchy still have a place in the movies. It’s no secret that some older films ‘staged’ rape scenes as a secret way of titillating the men in the audience while hiding behind the veil of a ‘damsel in distress’. It’s very very problematic,” as reported by Zoom.

Adivi revealed that the roots of misogyny are ingrained within and need strict actions to be condemned. He also acknowledged the need to empower women in all spectrums of work. Especially in careers demanding high skill sets. This should not work as a hot trend but act as a form of educating women.

The actor addressed the concrete actions through which such mindsets can be changed. He stated, “The key isn’t to just offer token rebukes of such actions or statements. Empowering equality for women in the workforce, especially in highly skilled positions, publicly championing empowerment not just because it’s fashionable, but until it becomes the norm… that is the way forward. People need to see upfront how simple it can be to change mindsets. If only the willingness to do so were so simple,” as reported by Zoom.
