Ireland’s national cricket team is gearing up for their upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, set to take place in December 2023. The bilateral series, confirmed by Zimbabwe Cricket, will include both T20Is and ODIs, marking the second encounter between the two teams this year.
The series kicks off with a thrilling three-match T20I series starting from December 7. A notable change for both teams will be the introduction of new full-time captains. Sikandar Raza will lead Zimbabwe in the T20Is, while Paul Stirling has been recently appointed captain for both limited-overs formats, bringing fresh leadership to the Irish side.
Following the T20Is, the focus will shift to the three ODIs scheduled for December 13, 15, and 17. All six matches are slated to be played at the Harare Sports Club, promising an exciting contest for cricket enthusiasts.
In preparation for the series, Ireland will embark on a five-day training camp in Spain from November 19 to 23, honing their skills and strategies for the challenging encounters ahead. Cricket Ireland has already announced the white-ball squads, featuring talented players set to showcase their prowess on the international stage.
Andrew White, Ireland Men’s national selector, expressed his anticipation for the tour, highlighting its significance as the team enters a new cycle under fresh leadership. He emphasized the tour’s importance in preparing for upcoming T20 World Cups and the 50-over World Cup, emphasizing the team’s potential to achieve remarkable feats in the world of cricket.
