The underdogs of the ODI World Cup 2023, the Netherlands, give Bangladesh a big upset after winning by a big margin of 87 runs. The Netherlands, who gave South Africa, repeated their defeat against big teams at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
The Bangladesh skipper expressed his disappointment with the team’s batting throughout the entire tournament. He was not happy that he and the prime batters didn’t perform well.
“I thought we bowled very well. We should have restricted them to 160–170. We have been very poor with the bat throughout the tournament. This is as bad as it gets. It is very difficult from here. We need to take this on our chin,” says Shakib Al Hasan.
He was worried about their survival in the tournament and had to face the consequences.
“Throughout this tournament, we have been struggling. I’m not sure what’s going on in the minds. Very unlike the Bangladesh team. The fans have been supporting us through our ups and downs,” the Bangladeshi skipper concluded.
Paul van Meekeren was awarded as the player of the match for striking four major wickets.
