Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released the fifth list of 92 candidates for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. Last night, a meeting of the Central Election Committee was held under the chairmanship of party president JP Nadda at the BJP headquarters in the national capital. The names of the candidates were brainstormed in this meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other members of the Central Election Committee were present in this meeting. The names of 92 candidates were finalized in this meeting itself.
BJP has placed bets on 12 women candidates in the fifth list. These includes Maya Singh from Gwalior East, Uma Khatik from Hatta, Pratima Bagri from Raigaon, Radha Singh from Chitrangi, Sampatia Uike from Mandla, Mausam Visen from Balaghat, Kanchan Mukesh Tanve from Khandwa, Chhaya More from Pandhana, Manju Rajendra Dadu from Nepanagar, Burhanpur. Archana Chitnis from Dhar, Neena Vikram Verma from Dhar and Usha Thakur from Dr. Ambedkar Nagar-Mhow.
From Indore-3 seat, the sitting MLA Akash Vijayvargiya, son of the senior party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya has been dropped in this list. On his place, the party has shown trust over Rakesh Golu Shukla. Over this decision of the party, Akash Vijayvargiya said: “Rakesh Golu Shukla has been given a ticket from the Indore-3 constituency for the upcoming state elections. We have happily accepted this decision because it is to the party’s benefit. We have done several development works in the area. I believe under the leadership of Golu Shukla, development work will get faster.” (As quoted by ANI)

BJP has announced candidates for 228 seats out of 230. It is noteworthy that BJP had released the first list on August 17. There were 39 names in it. Then 39 names appeared in the second list also. In this, tickets were given to seven MPs, including three Union Ministers. Tickets of three MLAs in this list were canceled. There was one name in the third list. BJP had released the fourth list as soon as the election date was announced. In the fourth list, BJP had given tickets to 25 ministers, including Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. In this list of 57 candidates, all the sitting MLAs were given tickets. Now the fifth list has been released.
The party has not yet given ticket to anyone on Vidisha and Guna seats. Both these seats have been kept on hold for now. There is a possibility that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan may also contest from Vidisha assembly seat. Chauhan has also contested the 2013 assembly elections on two assembly seats, Vidisha and Budhni. Later he left Vidisha seat.
