The much awaited list of Congress party for Madhya Pradesh assembly elections is finally out. On Sunday, Congress released its first list of candidates. There are 144 candidates in this list including CM candidate Kamal Nath, Govind Singh and Jitu Patwari.
Congress party’s chief minister candidate Kamal Nath will be contesting from his local seat of 126-Chhindwara, while the former minister Jitu Patwari has been given ticket from his existing 210-Rau seat.
Madhya Pradesh Congress chief and party’s CM candidate Kamal Nath congratulated all the candidates. He said: “Congress Party has released the first list of candidates today for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2023. I congratulate all the candidates and call upon the Congress workers and the respected people of Madhya Pradesh to ensure success to the Congress candidates and establish a government of truth and justice in Madhya Pradesh.”

Reacting to the first list of candidates by the Congress party, Jitu Patwari said: “The list of Congress candidates has come as per the mood and sentiments of the people. Therefore, in MP with an overwhelming majority @INCMP Government is set to form! The party has trusted me for the fourth time. I have always considered Rau Assembly as my family. Rising above party politics, with everyone’s cooperation, it has made it a more prosperous assembly than Budhni. Once again, together, we will make this family of ours more prosperous! Will take new resolutions! Will fulfill new dreams! #Rau my assembly, my family.”

Digvijay Singh’s son gets ticket from Raghogarh
Leader’s sons also got a place in the first list. Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh’s son Jaivardhan Singh has been given the ticket from Raghogarh, while his younger brother Laxman Singh has been given the ticket from Chachaura seat. Arjun Singh’s son Ajay Singh Rahul has been made the candidate from Churhat.
The party has fielded 65 candidates below 50 years of age. Congress has given tickets to 19 women out of 144. Of these, 47 candidates are from general category, 6 from minority, 39 from OBC, 22 from SC and 30 from ST.
‘Bajrang Bali’ against CM Shivraj
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is contesting from Budhni seat. Congress has not been able to win this seat for 20 years. Shivraj Singh became MLA from here in 1990, 2006, 2008, 2013 and 2018. In 2003, Rajendra Singh of BJP became MLA from here.
This time Congress has given ticket to Vikram Mastal Sharma against CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Mastal has played the role of Lord Hanuman in the serial ‘Ramayana’ aired in 2008. He had joined Congress only in July. He is originally a resident of Budhni in Madhya Pradesh. After joining Congress, he had described Kamal Nath as a man of progress.

Sanjay Shuka (Congress) vs Kailash Vijayvargiya (BJP)
This time BJP has surprisingly given ticket to senior leader Kailash Vijayvargiya from Indore-1. Congress has again expressed confidence in Sanjay Shukla from here. Shukla had defeated BJP’s Sudarshan Gupta last time. Congress has again fielded Dr. Govind Singh from Lahar assembly seat of Bhind district. He has been MLA from here for seven times. BJP has not been able to win here for three decades. This time he’s contesting against BJP’s Ambrish Sharma Guddu.
