A day after the Delhi legislative assembly committee on peace & harmony took complaints against Facebook over their allegation of containing harmful content, the Delhi legislative assembly is on final stage (i.e.finalizing details) to initiate proceedings.

The committee will likely meet this week to discuss the matter. This decision was taken after the committee received complaints, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

A person aware of the developments, who did not wish to be named on Tuesday i.e. 18th August said, “We are finalizing details of who the notices will be sent out to. Yesterday the committee took cognizance of the complaints and is now finalizing how the proceedings will take place. We will send out notices shortly to concerned officials.”

Raghav Chadha, chairman of the committee after the meeting on Monday i.e19th August. said, “Summons are set to be sent for appearance to the concerned officials of Facebook in due course to ensure their presence before the committee for participating in the proceedings and the committee shall convene its meeting this week to initiate the proceedings forthwith.”

He added, “The committee will facilitate state’s endeavor to maintain & promote an irenic atmosphere and a conducive milieu of peace & pacification among different communities in Delhi. It is our aim to take action against any potential adversity which might cause communal discord.”
